Love is the foundation, but it is not enough to build a relationship

“There comes a time in every relationship, when you realize that Love is not enough.

Love can be the foundation, but camaraderie, respect, trust and understanding

are the pillars that hold the relationship”

I really believe in these words. Love is amazing, it makes the mundane things special, it makes your heart sing and dance. Falling in Love is easy, staying and growing in love is challenging. I have often heard, if Love is there every other concern can be bridged. I beg to differ, the human mind always want more and more. When we receive all the love, we need friendship, support, understanding and the most important respect!!

In the beginning, love is all you need to eat, breath, live and laugh. But, to nurture your relationship you will need a lot more. From security to both partners taking equal responsibility, understanding each other’s expectation and respecting your differences.

Passion and love is all good, but lack of respect and trust will make you wonder, why you got into the relationship in the first place. Love may always exist in the relationship but if the other pillars are missing,  you realize you need to keep each other at an arm’s distance for your and the other person’s good.

“There are things we don’t want to happen, but we have to accept

There are things we don’t want to know, but have to learn

There are people we cannot live without, but have to let them go”

So true! Some people seem to forget how important trust and respect are. But without them you’ll never have a truly happy relationship. Great post!

You have good points here. Real love is a decision. You decide to love. And love has to be fanned and nurtured.
