One step at a time

achieve-success

You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take one step at a time…

Are you feeling overwhelmed?

Too many problems to tackle?

The goal looks so distant that you have no idea from where to begin..

Well, let’s take one step to begin with

You have a journey to complete, a goal to achieve, your problems to be solved  or a task to be completed. We often get demotivated or freeze when the challenge/task looks too big in front of us.

This often happened to me during exams, when I had 8-10 modules to study in less than 24 hours. I called my best friend and asked her, where do I start and she told me a story;

An intern chef on his first day was given 500 potatoes to peel before lunch. The chef looked at the mammoth pile and felt his heart drop. He was 100% sure, he could not complete it. He called his mom, to tell her he was going to fail on his first day. His wise mom told him that he was making a mountain of a mole. She told him “Start peeling the 1st potato, then take the next and focus only on peeling… It’s not about peeling all 500, but I will be proud if you give your best”.

  • Similarly, when we focus on all our problems at once. It distorts our vision. Take the most pressing one and solve it one by one.
  • If the mountain looks huge and making on the top, sends shivers down your spine. Take one step at a time, if you are tired, rest for a while and if you want to give up, just turn and see if you could walk 10 steps you can surely walk 5 more.
  • You want to overcome a fear. Don’t work on the main trunk. Chip the branches away and then get to the main fear. It will be much easier to win.
  • You have started afresh and you feel dazed about how you are going to make it, it is simple. Take one step at a time. One thing for one day and a new day will give us more confidence to take the next step.

We need to start and keep going. Every drop counts. Every success adds to our confidence and every challenge makes us more prepared. But, Don’t give up.  Look ahead and keep going… 🙂 I promise it will work.

It is just like the law of inertia, the beginning is tough but as you keep moving you will gain momentum. So every step counts…

Mind your wings 🙂

    totally agree, I think Jeff Bezos, the founder of amazon, calls this incremental origin. step by step you get ahead, not in spurts
